Just ate a peach… from the first sapling planted when we moved here. That is huge – as significant as it gets. We are here, we have been here, and we will stay here.
Best damn peach I ever ate…

congratulations – i’ve started getting some plums for the first time this year – trees are our future
Congratulations, I hope it was the tastiest peach you ever ate and may the next one be even better.
That’s the thing I’ve always wondered about. Why aren’t there fruit and nut trees planted everywhere? If I had a significant amount of land I would be planting them everywhere. I’ve got some lemon trees starting in a planter, from grocery store lemons. I plan to bring them in over winter, hopefully they will survive. I don’t think lemon trees are too common in Ohio ;o) I would “go rogue” and plant trees on the roadside or median, but the state would just mow them down in the summer. Or they would get into the power lines.
Congratulations on the peach, I understand how much that means.
Congratulations from germany!
John, I look at forests full of trees, yards with trees everywhere, and I wonder the same thing… until I remember all the people who remove fruit trees so’s they don’t have to deal with all the flies that live on that nasty shit falling all over the lawn. I live in a primarily hardwood forest area where oaks abound and absolutely no one harvests them. But then again, I look at roadside and wayside “wasted” areas and visualize post oil people running goats. Farmin’ in the medians, ho ho!
Here’s a thought… Y’know those ornamental trees they put in as landscaping in parks etc? With the nice bark mulch all around them? Sneak in at night, cut the fucker down and replace with a semi dwarf apple or something. As long as you make the staking and mulch match the others no one will be the wiser.
If I got caught? Well, that would be one helluva satisfying court appearance.
It truly was the best peach I’ve ever eaten. I didn’t know they could taste like that; almost candy. . .beat the damn goats to it. HAHAHHAHAHA!
Planting out extra fruit tree’s is pretty easy if you have the motivation. Here in Auckland New Zealand I have planted fruit tree’s in council parks and have a maturing orchard near my house on an abandoned embankment. It may take a bit of time to work out where to put the tree’s and how to make sure they don’t get mowed down but its very possible.
Good onya simba, your a real inspiration.
John
I used to get wild persimmons on the side of the road west of here. The cattleman cut them down because of the flies, I guess.
I have poke growing around here, but my wife won’t let me cook it in the house ’cause she don’t like the smell, and she won’t eat it, yet.
I have a pretty good size peach tree I planted a few years ago. But it is the only one. I’m going to plant several more next spring.
My quince tree has a bunch of fruit on it. I brought it from my grandpa’s place in Oklahoma. The first one will, I hope, be like your own peach experience.
God Bless you all…
